Level Leaders

Level Leaders

  • Use YCL’s to help teach, guide and direct the girls during camp!  As an adult leader, you are there to help the YCL’s become leaders.  Guide them, direct them and don’t do anything yourself that the YCL’s can do for the girls.  We don’t need perfection; we need the Young Women to learn how to be the leader that Heavenly Father knows they can be!
  • Assign each YCL a duty – Head YCL, Modesty, Music, Cleanliness, Flag & Devotional, Certification
  • Each duty can be assigned to more than 1 YCL except for the Head YCL.  You are basically their counselor.
  • Plan with your YCL’s before camp through meetings, phone calls text or e-mail.  Please include us on all your group emails and texts. Utilize the Stake & assistant Camp Director.  Questions and ideas that the YCL’s have can be directed to us.
  • Stay within budget!  You have $140 as your budget.
  • Make sure all YW complete their level camp certification activities!
  • Bring or assign out all supplies needed for your level’s camp certification classes, activities and decorations.  No Nails, staples or anything that would damage or create a whole.  Tape is best!
  • Have several level unity activities for the YW at camp…prepare icebreakers and other activities to help the YW feel comfortable and united in their group.
  • Help YW come up with a group cheer or song that the girls can sing whenever appropriate and will help your level be unified.
  • Start “Me and Thee Time” with a mini scriptural lesson (10-15 min) before separating for personal scripture study.  YCL’s may do this as well.  (mini-lessons could be about how to scripture chain topics, how to study scriptures, a lesson on a certain relevant story applied to the young women’s lives, etc.)
  • Keep track of YW at camp/roll call.  This should be done periodically throughout the day and each evening.  We don’t want to lose any of our YW.  Report any missing YW immediately to camp director!
  • Make sure your YW know what they need to have at camp for their level certification to tie it in spiritually and any other activity specifically for them (communicate through the ward camp director or YW president) You will have a list of the YW after registration forms are turned on May 28, 2017.  Give us about 2 weeks to enter all the registration information.
  • Assist YCL’s in preparing sharing time…a good guide is in the Camp Manual under “Sharing Time”.  pg. 82 in camp manual. Please have the sharing time go with the question of the day.
  • Level Colors:  First Year – , Second Year –  , Third Year – , Fourth Year – . Inform girls in the level so they can plan accordingly as well.
  • Remind the girls to say their personal prayers, to study their scriptures, to write in their journals and to work on personal progress.
  • Help all YW feel Heavenly Father’s love. Help all YW continue to be positive and upbeat despite the heat, exhaustion and things that might not go as planned!
  • Watch this wonderful training!! This will help you know how to Let Laurels Lead.
  • Turn in camp receipts by the end of camp to get reimbursed.
  • Be organized.!  Help the YCLs know the importance of knowing the schedule for the next day at camp and showing up on time (preferably at least 5 mins early)
  • Communication is key!
  • Lots and Lots of Love and Patience!!
  • Have Fun!!
